Gere Tamás & Zsolt Winery

The family winery was established in the late ’80s by the visionary father Tamás Gere, who, perceiving the market’s potential and mastering the art of winemaking, started viticulturing. As a founding member of the renowned Villány Five, Tamás was among the pioneers of commercial winemaking, significantly contributing to Villány’s esteemed reputation. His dynamism continued unabated until 1998, when a tragic accident befell Tamás. During the peak of the harvest season, a misstep caused him to slip and fall from a tank, resulting in a broken leg. Tamás’s son, Zsolt, was just commencing his final year at the Budafok School of Viticulture and Oenology. Heeding an urgent call from his family, Zsolt abandoned his studies and returned home. Despite his youth, Zsolt faced the initial hurdles with remarkable resolve. Since then, the exquisite wines bear the hallmark of his distinctive craftsmanship. Through extensive exploration and keen market observation, Zsolt has honed a recognizable style in winemaking. In addition to elegance and intricate detail, dynamism and youthful energy are crucial elements in crafting each wine.
